The Complete Guide to E-Sports Betting at eight789 – How to Bet, Markets & Strategies
Esports is no longer just a teenage hobby — it has grown into a multi-billion MYR industry followed seriously by millions across Malaysia and Southeast Asia. Every weekend, hundreds of thousands of gaming fans sit in front of their screens to watch their favourite teams compete in MPL, VCT, or The International. And over the past few years, esports betting has surged in popularity — because it lets fans support their teams not just emotionally, but financially.
At eight789, we understand that Malaysian esports fans are different from traditional casino players. You know the game meta, you track team head-to-head records, and you can break down individual player performance. That is a genuine edge over the average bettor — and eight789 is built to help you put that knowledge to work through a wide range of betting markets and competitive odds.
Why Does Mobile Legends Dominate Malaysian Esports?
Ask any Malaysian gamer and chances are Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) tops the list. As the most popular mobile MOBA in Southeast Asia, MLBB boasts a highly mature esports ecosystem in Malaysia — with MPL Malaysia as the premier league, featuring teams like Todak, Geek Fam MY, and ONIC MY. eight789 provides full coverage of MPL Malaysia from the group stage through to the grand final, with over 15 betting markets available per match.
What makes betting on MLBB particularly interesting is that you can apply your knowledge of hero compositions, draft strategies, and player track records to make more informed calls than simply following the odds. Teams that win more early games in a series tend to carry momentum — a factor that is often not fully reflected in the opening lines eight789 releases.
Understanding Esports Markets: More Than Just Picking a Winner
Most new bettors only know about one market — who wins the match. But at eight789, we offer over 20 markets for every major esports match. Understanding these different markets not only makes betting more exciting, it also opens up more opportunities to find real value in the odds.
For example, in an MLBB match, map handicap betting (-1.5 / +1.5) lets you wager on whether a team will win by a larger or smaller margin. This is useful when you are confident one team is stronger but want better odds. In CS2, betting on "First Pistol Round Winner" or "Total Kills O/U" can offer significantly better value than simply picking the outright winner, especially in matches between two evenly matched teams.
The Advantages of In-Play Betting for Esports at eight789
One of the most useful features at eight789 for esports fans is in-play betting. Unlike traditional sports, esports matches can swing momentum very quickly — a team down three kills in the first ten minutes of an MLBB game can turn things around with a single good teamfight. Players watching the match live and who understand the game's dynamics can spot these opportunities before eight789's odds system has a chance to adjust.
This is not about gaming the system — it is about using your knowledge of a game you love to make smarter betting decisions. An MLBB fan who has followed MPL for several seasons might know that Todak often peaks in the late game even when they fall behind early — that kind of insight can meaningfully shape in-play betting calls.

Esports Betting Tips from eight789
Do not rely solely on team rankings. In esports, factors like recent roster changes, the current patch meta, and head-to-head records often matter more than overall standings. Always check the latest news before placing a bet. And as always — set a clear budget and stick to it. Esports is entertainment, not a steady income stream.
MPL Malaysia – Malaysia's Premier Esports League
MPL Malaysia (Mobile Legends Professional League) is the most prestigious esports league in Malaysia and one of the strongest in Southeast Asia. Each season features the top eight Malaysian teams competing over several months for a spot at the M-Series World Championship. For MLBB fans in Malaysia, it carries the same weight as the Super League does for football supporters — something followed passionately from the opening match all the way to the grand final.
At eight789, we make sure every MPL Malaysia match is available with full markets from before the game kicks off. You can track odds from the moment betting opens, monitor line movements leading up to the match, and place in-play bets while the action unfolds. It adds a whole new dimension to the experience — every teamfight and objective hits differently when you have an active bet on the line.
